Ukrainian producers turn a healthy protein into a convenient snack

Fish has a reputation as a healthy source of protein and other nutritional benefits, but consumption is still low in many countries - mainly due to barriers like cooking skills and lack of convenience. One solution could be fish snacks; a concept that is well-established in some markets, such as Asia and East Europe, but still emergent in the West.

The Ukrainian fish snacks seen below are very popular throughout the country and are often found near the beer aisle in the supermarket, as they are often consumed as a salty snack along with beer. Morski, the brand behind the blue bags below, is the leading snack brand in Ukraine and launched its first fish snack product in 2004. The products are promoted for being made in Ukraine and the anchovy snack delivers a whopping 53g of protein per 100g.
