About us

New Nutrition Business is the only company outside Japan dedicated solely to researching, analysing and forecasting the global nutrition business. We have done so since 1995, providing expert consultancy to companies large and small around the world. The company has offices in London and New Zealand and works with affiliates in Japan and Finland.

We have invested heavily in developing our expertise and have grown to become the world’s leading provider of analysis and insight into the global nutrition business.

Our journal, New Nutrition Business, provides case studies and analysis of the global nutrition business and is used by more than 1,700 corporate subscribers in 42 countries. Our website contains the largest searchable internet database of information about the business of food and health. We also publish the journal Kids Nutrition Report (www.kidsnutritionreport.com), the only industry journal in the world on the rapidly developing kids’ nutritional marketplace.

Companies around the world, both large and small, make our work available online to all of their research, product development and marketing staff. Government bodies that work on food industry development make our information resources freely available to small and medium-sized food and drink companies in their regions.

Julian Mellentin

The company is owned and directed by Julian Mellentin, one of the world’s very few international specialists in the business of food, nutrition and health. Julian’s opinions are often sought by the world’s media – click here to see some examples.

Julian did his undergraduate degree at Oxford University and his MBA at Manchester Business School and worked marketing branded products across Europe, based in the Netherlands, for 10 years before founding this company. He has practical experience of marketing branded products in most European countries.

Julian Mellentin is co-author of Functional Foods Revolution, Healthy People, Healthy Profits? the first-ever book on the business of functional foods, now translated into Japanese. He is also co-author with Peter Wennström of Commercialising Innovation: The Food & Health Marketing Handbook. In addition, Julian is co-author of Superfruit, the first book ever to set out the marketing and science criteria for success in the area of fruits marketed with health benefits.
